ATHS- Australian Chapter Christmas December 2019 Showcasing East Gippsland
ATHS Australian Chapter “Showcasing East Gippsland” Christmas was a great time, put on by the Gippsland members. There was an action packed 4 days starting with a tour of Clarke Maizes shed, which was a highlight for us. A big thanks to Clarke for letting us in and taking the time to show us your treasures.
A big thanks to Marg and Terry Whelan opening their home to us members, feeding us and making us all welcome. We went for a tour of Buchan and had a look at the historic places their, with a necessary lunch at the Buchan Pub. There was also a visit to Jeff East’s sheds, thank you for letting us in to Jeff!
Given the history of the Whelan’s transport in East Gippsland and the large number of jobs they had done in the area, they had organised for us to do a tour of the boat builders yard and then down to the wharf at Lakes Entrance to check out a Multi Million dollar boat that spends significant time out on the high sea’s detecting and fixing gas pipe lines. This was an awesome experience for the ATHS members and a big thanks for the company to let us all on, it was appreciated.
Their was a boat cruise around Gippsland Lakes and we couldn’t have asked for better weather, getting to look at the seals and what a beautiful place they live in.
The Saturday night dinner was held in the shed at Marg and Terry’s and yet again, the work that went into decking their shed out for us was pretty spectacular. Not only work by Marg and Terry but with a helping hand from Dick, Margaret, John and Helen (sorry if l have forgotten anyone).
Santa arrived played by Jenny Cotterell ( yes a truck club that had a female santa) which was entertaining to say the least.
On behalf of all the ATHS member who attended this Christmas we want the say a big thanks Marg and Terry for having us all!
